THE MUSHROOM OF IMMORTALITY, Ganoderma lucidum (the God-sent miraculous red mushroom), is a type of mushroom which had been used as traditional Chinese medicine since thousands of years ago. The herbal history of Ganoderma lucidum had long been documented in the oldest Chinese pharmacopeia, “Sheng Nong’s Herbal Classic”. Ganoderma lucidum was seen as a symbol of prosperity and peace for the nation and longevity for the emperor.
Ganoderma lucidum has different names in various countries. For example, Ganoderma is known as “Reishi” in Japan, “Lingzhi” in China and “Youngzhi” in Korea. Ganoderma lucidum is a member of the fungus family that naturally grows on fallen trees and logs of other broad leaf trees. It is made up of the mycelium and fruiting body. Mycelium is the basilar and white villiform that supply needed nutrients for growth, while the fruiting body appears in umbrella form including the germ handle and the germ umbrella. Both the mycelium and fruiting body are edible and have various medicinal properties that can be used to prevent and ameliorate human diseases.

Gano Excel was founded by Malaysian Chinese mycologist Mr. Leow Soon Seng. He was born in a family of Chinese medicine and has been keen to study fungus cultivation techniques since his middle school age. Out of his love for fungus cultivation, Mr. Leow Soon Seng began to study Ganoderma lucidum cultivation in 1983 under the inspiration and encouragement of his brother.

After researching Ganoderma lucidum, he found that the quality of commercially available Ganoderma lucidum products is quite different, the high-active Ganoderma lucidum varieties are lacking, and the strains are seriously degraded. For this reason, Mr. Leow Soon Seng visited Malaysia, Taiwan, Sichuan and other places to collect more than 100 species of Ganoderma lucidum, and carefully selected high-quality Ganoderma lucidum strains. After 12 years of ingenious breeding, the stable, high-quality, fresh and bright Gano Excel Ganoderma has been cultivated, and 38 years of 52-generation breeding have been completed so far.
At Gano Excel, tissue culture and 100% organic method are adopted for the cultivation of Ganoderma. Paddy husks, brown rice flour and rubber trees scrapes are used as a medium of plantation.
No chemicals, pesticides or hormones are used in the cultivation. Natural environment factors such as temperature, humidity and exposure to the sun are closely monitored & controlled to ensure optimum growth while maintaining therapeutic properties. It takes 3 months for Ganoderma to mature before it is harvested under tight supervision.
